Match report Beautiful Southgate Hosts a Hilarious Day of Cricket in Perfect Weather
It was a day made for cricket - with Southgate basking in glorious sunshine and a perfect temperature that even the ducks came out to watch. Yes, folks, nature seemed to have conspired to give us a magnificent match day. Birds were chirping, children were laughing, and the family snoozing under a tree. Ah, paradise!
The match began, and our enthusiastic (hangover, late arrival) captain, won the toss
Our first highlight involves Amit, the team's "sturdy (0)" opener who suddenly wasn’t so keen to open.
The Charlie and Dan Knight Show**. Charlie and Dan stitched together a mammoth 200+ runs. The bowlers looked more like volunteers than professionals, and I'm pretty sure one of them was considering a career change to knitting by the end of it.
Dan's bat was hotter than a summer day in Mumbai as he clocked in a sweltering 106 runs. Over at the other end, Charlie was not being a barker but a banger, knocking an impressive 88 runs himself.
Karan and Pichy* made sure no one felt left out, each securing solid half-centuries. It was like watching synchronized batting
But the true headline-stealer of the day was none other than our Jeet. With expectations sky-high and his lovely wife watching from the stands, Jeet faced his first ball... and WHAM! The ball hit the stumps like a homing pigeon. Golden duck it was,
There's always the next match, Jeet—you’ll get them next time!
We batted like a hungry pack of wolves and ended up with a monstrous score of 342 for 4. Just to put it into perspective, the last time we saw such numbers, it was on a calorie chart at an all-you-can-eat buffet!
**Bowling Breakdown: **
Our bowlers, bless their multi-talented and often clumsy souls, shared the wickets like they were splitting a delicious pizza. Everyone got a slice, but Perl was the greediest, snagging 3 like they were the last slices of pepperoni. Not to be outdone, Charlie chipped in with 2 wickets, because sharing is caring, right?
**Catch Drop Fiasco: **
Ah, dropping catches. If there's one thing, we are consistent at, it’s our exceptional ability to drop catches. Seriously, has there ever been a game when we didn’t drop something? We're like butter-fingered jugglers on a roller coaster! And let's not even talk about the hangover drops. If you’re slightly tipsy, don't worry, because chances are someone else will drop it too, and now you have a camaraderie
2nd top now.
