Aldenham Cricket Club v Ickleford II on Sat 22 Jun 2024 at 12.00
Aldenham Cricket Club Lost by 87 runs

Match report A heavy shower at the start of the game made us loose hope to have match at all. But with ACC drainage system and with everyone’s positive mind-set to play a nice game of cricket, a miracle happened - it started to get bright and clear. But looking at the pitch condition it was too early to say anything. With passing time and no rain, picture got better enough to have a game. After last inspection at 1 o clock and the game reduced to 38 overs, toss happened, and ACC captain decided to bowl first.
As the opposition walked in our two bowlers started attacking from the first ball. Amit got us an early breakthrough in his first spell. From other end with change of line and length from Shaky, got ACC another catch at slip. Moving into the game a brilliant runout by Dush gave ACC a third wicket. Few quick wickets gone, opposition took a defensive approach and survived and collected some runs. Right before drinks a very loose ball gave Karan a wicket!!!! Good second half start from batting team with left- and right-hand combinations took the game away and few catch drops had put ACC in hard situation. With spinners into attack ACC got some more wickets including great Wardy taking his 600th wicket for the club!!!!! Lastly Amit and shaky were bought again into the attack to finish the game. Opp 191 all out in 37.5 overs.

Second innings begins with good sunny weather, batsman looked confident. But looks can be deceiving. As pitch was tricky here now with good bounce but slow onto the bat which gave opposition quick couple of wickets Amit and Maj for a duck – his sadness lasted well after we finished drinks at the Club. With Chris walking in at 3, gave ACC the hope, captain from front got the score board moving played some nice classy shots. Nevertheless, slow pitch tricked again with itty’s wicket. Then our No. 4 walked in at 5 showed loads of patience, right when ACC had some partnership - A poor choice of shot got Chris out. Dush and Karan tried to keep up with RR with decent partnership which did not last long and another wicket of our no. 4 Karan gone and drinks. With new energy opposition made a nice come back and took a series of wicket which made ACC lose all their hope now - ACC was supposed to bat all overs and score somehow over 100 but in the end ACC lost by 90 runs not. Tough day at work.
