Match report ACC Match Report – League vs Knebworth Park II – 08/06/24

We welcomed the arrival of Knebworth Park to the Parish on a brisk early April afternoon, oh no wait, apparently it was actually June, no-one told the weather. Jobs were done (mostly), Pichy moaned about coloured flags and Chris won the toss and elected to have a bat.
Amit and DK strode out to the crease to get the innings started, but were stopped in their tracks by the realisation that only one end of the track had been painted, classic. Amit fell early which left Pichy and DK to try and build a solid base for the stacked middle order to capitalise on, but just as they were getting going, calamity ensued. DK departed after a stunning one handed grab at mid-off which brought Kuzza to the crease, who shouldered arms to his first ball as he knew it was comfortably missing off stump….unfortunately for him though, it was going to be crashing into middle - LBW! Boom Boom Itty Haque walked to the crease to face the hattrick ball, eyed up the trees, tamely wafted across the line and quickly returned to the pavilion having been bowled – 45 for 4. Two much needed partnerships between Pichy & Chris and Tim & Raj managed to drag the total up to a competitive 181 all out and something for the bowlers to bowl at.
But who needs runs on the board when you have Amit Chakrawarti opening the bowling? 8 overs, 2 maidens, 5 wickets for 12 runs. He even withdrew an appeal that was given because he was trying to let his fellow bowlers have a chance! When Ammo finished his spell, Knebworth were in deep trouble at 45-7 and the writing was on the wall. In the midst of all the chaos, Aldenham still managed to shell three catches, with Perry emulating Gordon Banks at mid wicket and tipping one over the bar, Ammo dropping one at first slip and Fifa Ultimate Team enthusiast, Wardy, trying to chest and volley one at mid-on! Gautam and Perry finished the innings off with 2 & 1 wickets respectively and Knebworth were all out for 98.
