Aldenham Cricket Club v St Margaretsbury II on Sat 18 May 2024 at 12.00
Aldenham Cricket Club Won by 4 wickets

Match report The opposition were quite keen with half of there team being outside the locked gate before Chris had arrived which was around quarter to 11. Once everyone arrived whilst we were getting everything setup and ready the oppo were out on the fielding training thinking it was gonna be a breeze.

Chris won his first toss of the year and opted to bowl first which proved dividends on another tricky wicket to bat first on. Char got us off to a flyer with 2 wickets in the opening spell with Tim following him up from the other end bowling really well despite dropping a catch off his own bowling. Char also bowled the majority of out wides which was 9 in total.

After the two early wickets they started to build a partnership when the first change came with Gautam and Amit stepping up. First few balls went for boundaries at the start of Amits spell, but the 'chatty' WK unleashed Angry Ammo and then ended up taking a 5 for so we should all be more like Ammo. There was enough jug ball shouts in the field which was full of energy and we ended up bowling them out in 36.5 overs after Perry secured his first wicket by the batsman trying to reverse sweep which went straight to Levers soft hands. Almost like a clip out of the Matrix.

We then went out to bat with eBay and Amit getting us started however Amits stay at the crease didn’t last very long with a duck. So Levers was next in line who was looking very comfortable from the off but as he was getting comfortable he decided to turn his back on eBay who didn’t make it back in time to be run out. Next in was Karan who didn’t last very long hit a lovely six in to the bushes and then decided to let the WK rattle him and got in two minds of playing a sweep and a defence then getting clean bowled. Itty was next in line and was just swinging at everything in his sight hit a boundary and then scooped one in the air to be caught on the boundary. Chris then came in and the game was taken away from the oppo with Tim and Chris doing the business although Chris with a minor dismissal with a straight up caught and bowled to a spinner. All in all Pichy scored the winning runs to finish the game off in 21 overs. Pub by 5PM WHAT A DAY AND THE FIRST LEAGUE WIN OF THE SEASON.

Highlight of the day: Karan losing his head to a teenage WK
