Aldenham Cricket Club v North Harrow on Sun 31 Jul 2022 at 12.30
Aldenham Cricket Club Lost by 6 wickets

Match report Nobody was late….apart from 8 parishioners!

5 no balls, a potential retired hurt, a 2nd thigh pad and a vape in the bowlers pocket were just a few highlights from the latest ACC Sunday match…and that was just the first over.

AJ and the Chairman were asked to face the first over as Sach’s men were tasked to set a total vs a North Harrow team that hadn’t visited the Parish before. The openers did their job by seeing off the new ball and endure the Aldenham half an hour with a variety of batting strokes. AJ being the first to go, missing a straight one then taking his usual walk around the boundary to give himself a good talking to. Simo wasn’t long out after getting caught but more importantly, we had another scorer to call upon so appreciate the thought Chairman. Up step skip of the day and the wannabe skip of the day! Slaquey and Sach certainly took the game in a different direction. 85 off 42, 39 off 67…I will let you work out who got what!
Itty rode his luck at times with a number of chances going down and a couple of skyers landing safe in the middle of some huge 6s which gave himself a well deserved MOM. The less said about Sach’s innings the better!
Deepak, Jimmy B and Char all came in and upped the rate as the As finished on 252 off their allotted 40.
A steady start from experienced Viking D Morgz ‘running’ up the hill having an stumping not given which the umpire later admitted he wasn’t watching. Char did his thing at the other end trying not to throw up from the night before. Thank goodness he was taken off for a much energetic looking Ally having spent an hour in the nets working on his line and length. In reality that looked like it tired him out as batsman of the day Mayank (North Harrow number 3) starting to get into his stride. The Bohm was then asked to do his thing bowling some half decent stuff but struggled with the right hand left hand combination as the rate slowly started to come down as the field spread and the ball kept being found in nearby fields more often than normal. Jimmy B was next to have a go but he also looked a little weary after a night with Michelle from the day before…welcome back to reality mate!!
Both Mark and Jimmy did pick up a wicket a piece but Mayank was becoming a thorn in the side now finding the boundary rope frequently meaning the pressure was on the home side.
The game being played in the right spirit until the Bohm released one of his grenades enticing the batsman down the track trying to hit the ball out of Aldenham, unfortunately for him finding thin air and a thankfully Slaquey doing the rest. ‘Not out his bat was down’ Queue bedlam…Off came the gloves and a load of a abuse was sent in the direction of square leg! WHAT GAME ARE YOU WATCHING?! was a particular highlight…Pete Munroe would have been so proud of his successor. Both batsman and umpire were quickly replaced and the game could continue. Unfortunately for the home side, nothing really changed as Mayank quickly finished the job with 6 overs to spare after a decent little spell from the future Adam Haque who bowled well and the game would have finished a lot sooner if it wasn’t for him. Why wasn’t he on sooner we all thought!!
Usual comical fielding throughout which made the afternoon bearable and the pub after very amusing.
The day will be remembered for the Lionesses ending the tens of years of hurt, the As will come back stronger!
