MATCH REPORT
ALDENHAM vs HARROW WAYFARERS 12TH SEPTEMBER 2021
The Aldenham heroes arrived at the parish looking to make it two from two for the weekend against a strong Harrow Wayfarers side. Sunday Skip itty haque hit his first ton for the club against this outfit earlier in the season, could he replicate that astonishing innings?
Sending Aldenham out to field first the PIMP James bazeley opened up down the hill off his long run, bowling good gas and making the most out of a suspect pitch which was only going to break up throughout the day. Accompanying jamesy was ACC’s resident wolf sheikh Ahmed. Sheikh toiled away for 5 overs and was eventually replaced by gentle swing bowler and cheese board enthusiast barry Letts.
James Bazeley was still bowling.
Barry hustled and bustled up the hill for 6 overs without a wicket but really did work hard for the team, great effort for a 30 year old veteran.
James Bazeley was still bowling.
after 20 over drinks, itty was insistent that he was going to ‘work james into the ground’ he managed one more over after drinks before being taken off after a 12 over spell picking up three wickets. the whole team tried to keep Michelle in her cage by dropping some absolute sitters (Itty dropping the most regulation keeper catch to the guy who went on to score 82). Meanwhile the Liverpool lip Charlie munroe’s enthusiasm was really starting to falter as his couple of days dressed as a bunny and a bride was starting to catch up with him and the chat about superstitions and other slip cordon banter was fading (try concentrate on catching them next time).
Levers replaced Barry and Dickie replaced the Pimp, Levers got spanked into the cornfield a few times but Dickie really turned back the years picking up 2 wickets and only going for 24 off his 6 overs. THE SILVER FOX. Some good finishing spells from sheik and Charlie, who had found some WD40 for his shoulder and finished from the top end.
Harrow Wayfarers ended on 204, a tough chase on a pitch that was proving very tricky to bat on.
In form Batsman Ebay Khaliq and BBA Andy Jackson opened up the batting, Ebay looking to continue from his 50 the previous day and Andy looking to improve his strike rate of 15.
Ebay fell for 3, whilst AJ (after claiming he had no idea how to play the pitch to the keeper) fell for 13. This bought YJB/PIMP jnr Josh Bazeley to the crease, spanking the ball to the boundary to recover from the two early wickets. Josh was joined by ACC debutant Tom Connor. After a rigorous training programme from Char, Tom was ready to face the round red thing for the first time in his life, guiding his first ball through the slips for 4, unfortunately he couldn’t add to his score as he was triggered by ebay. the Second Liverpool resident and future brother in law, Charlie Munroe, replaced Tom. Char and Josh added 80 in a strong partnership before char decided to sell josh down the river and ran him out. after dropping a regulation catch off James Bazeley’s bowling and running Josh out, char was determined to ruin all of the bazeleys boys days and waited for matt to turn up so he could put a ball through his windscreen.
Levers joined char, after having a cuddle with pepper and jet was so relaxed he strolled to the middle and realised he was forgetting something important – his bat, after running back to grab it he needn’t bother as he bowled for a duck.
Barry came to the crease and rode his luck being dropped 3 times on his way to 28, who was quickly followed by Char being caught for 47. the win was looking tricky with Jimbo smashing a quick fire 16 before being caught at cow and complaining he didn’t see him there. time for the itty haque show:
Could Itty replicate his amazing innings from earlier in the year?
No.
The captain was joined by Dickie D, a master in playing for the draw. Itty and dickie have very different batting styles to say the least and the innings ended on a HUGE swipe across the line, stumps everywhere as Itty was bowled for 7.
Aldenham lost – bowled out for 181 chasing 204.
MOM James Bazeley - try bowling 12 overs up the hill next time
