Aldenham Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets
Match report
Aldenham CC vs Chipperfield Clarendon II - Match Report - Sat 26th June.
An unusual start for a game, with most players turning up on time. After some groundwork, the team started doing some warm-up and catching practice, led by the Pichy, another unusual for Aldenham.
There were suspicions among some players that Pichy is trying to make the team look remotely professional.
Mind you, some players were even ready to head towards home as they felt they'd done for the day.
Captain Crisis Munroe lost the toss and decided to go with whatever the opposing captain had left for him.
The game started with 10 players with Ammo still missing. There were whispers that Ammo took the ground for a wrong one when he saw players practicing in the field before the match, and was looking for the real Aldenham CC ground.
Timothy Hall and SCS Chandel opened the bowling. The openers looked half decent but were no match to Aldenham's opening attack.
SCS Chandel was out for blood as he finally managed to barge into the team at the last minute after trying to persuade players to let him play in their place.
Tidy bowling from both ends was too much for oppo and the openers decided to have a break and try batting next week.
The Sofa carpet and wicket specialist helped them with their decision by getting Aldenham CC two early wickets, with Dan Knight (No, you read it right, exactly the one you are thinking) and Mike Bass taking one catch each.
Oppo must be relieved for a minute when Tim Hall was taken out of the attack, and Jet lagged-looking Ammo was brought in. How good this Ammo(53) must be, bowling with 10 yards run-up.
Unfortunately for them, he bowled much better than he looked, even bowling from dicky’s runup.
On the other side, Ammo was joined by eBay, with tidy bowling from both ends the opposition was struggling to get runs, Ammo Chakrawarti got rid of two dangerous-looking but cautiously playing batsmen and eBay chipped in with a couple of wickets here and there.
With Dan Knight taking two more catches, any suspicion of players having illusions was settled.
Premier spinner Wardy who was feeling like a spectator so far was brought in to attack and took a wicket with a doosra (the one that actually turns) who could blame the batsman.
Later towards the end, Timothy Hall was brought into the attack again as the Captain felt the stats were not a true representation of Tim hale bowling and must be improved.
The stats indeed were improved by the batsman who hit two boundaries in one Overs. The second over of the 2nd spell brought some relief for Tim Hale as he got the threatening, not- batsman-looking batsman out with a slow ball.
With the target of 80 runs, this was an end to Chipperfield Clarendon II’s batting line.
After the Lunch break, Simon and Pichy opened the batting for Aldenham CC, it did not take them long to show the opposition what they were missing in their inning. Unfortunately, Simon lost his wicket early and the Boy with Three Catches (not dropped today) was sent i’. With the boundaries flowing all over the place it looked like an easy win for Aldenham CC.
When Mr Pich lost his wicket (57 for 28 balls) it was all over with 5 runs remaining. Mike bass contributed with lovely innings of 1 run and with a boundary by Dan Knight, The nightmare for the opposition was over.
Steve Pich( 57/28) competed with Ammo Chakrawarti (9 overs 9 runs for 4 wickets) for Man of the Match.
