Aldenham Cricket Club Won by 7 wickets

Match report Cooper 78 (T Hale 6-20)
ACC 80-3

The Parish arrived at the stunning backdrop of rural Hertfordshire to face Coopers, hoping to wrap up a comprehensive victory to make up for the previous day's league disappointment.

ACC fielded first, determined to make early inroads despite temporarily fielding with 10 whilst Matt Bazely was en route for his first appearance in a year (welcome back!).

A hung-over Levers made the ball talk with some good lift and carry, and soon claimed his just rewards with two clean bowled in quick succession... while at the other end Char was making it “hoop” in his customary fashion, almost claiming one of the Coopers openers with a “Jaffa”, but being let down by his gully (straight in, straight out… yes, it was every bit as poor as it sounds).

Still smarting from yesterday's GD, Russell then proved he doesn't normally drop those by snaffling an identical chance at the other end to give Levers his third… “W**ker!” Mutters the Sunday skip in frustration.

Munroe shortly afterwards took himself off to introduce spin doctor Mr Ward to the attack, while at the other end Levers continued to help himself to wickets, finishing up with an excellent 6-20 in his allotted seven overs.

Ward also collected a couple of scalps of his own thanks to smart catches from Vintage (welcome back Sir!) and Matt Bazely, who had been on the field for barely a minute before taking a sharp chance at slip.

Ubaid “EBay” Khaliq promptly cleaned up the tail, including the no. 11 bat with a sharp lifter expertly taken by “Slaque Haque” behind the stumps.

With the innings over with just 78 on the board, the Parish elected to get the job done before heading in to enjoy tea. Char's mate Mr Needham opened with the ever reliable Pirate, and together the pair got the job more than half done, before Needham was trapped LBW after some fluent stroke play.

Vintage then appeared in his customary no. 3 slot, hoping to roll back the years...then unfortunately failing to do so as he dollied one up for a 6 ball duck.

The Sheikh was then promptly bowled for 1, but Mr Bazeley settled nerves by exacting severe punishment on the slow bowlers for some short deliveries, coincidentally also saving the blushes of yours truly who had been living under a dark cloud at the prospect of a king pair!

With TOMOA still having nightmares over having been charged £16 for three small drinks at the Coopers bar, the victors elected instead to celebrate the spoils of triumph at a pub in nearby Berkhamstead specifically chosen by Levers (although who knows why - I'm sure Doll's houses have bigger gardens).

MOTM: It could only be Tim “Levers” Hale. Made up for a couple of loose deliveries by being right on the money for his 6 victims.
