A Historic Milestone for Aldenham CC

A momentous occasion for our club as we proudly introduced a 2nd XI, a testament to our growing ranks and strong camaraderie. Huge credit to Chairman Simon Letts, King Maj, Captains and the ACC committee for steering us to this exciting stage.

ACC 2nd XI Makes League Debut

Our first game in the Saracens Hertfordshire Premier Cricket League Division 14 West (HPCL Division 14 W) began under glorious sunshine at Park Street Lane. Fortunately, everyone arrived at the correct location—no last-minute detours! 😊

Winning the toss, Captain Dush made the right call to bat first.



Batting: Steady Start, Explosive Finish

The innings got off to a shaky start, with King Maj departing early—not via LBW this time (a rare moment!) but run out, attempting to steal an impossible single.

Then came Pavan & Dush, steadying the ship and crafting a 50-run partnership by the 11th over. However, drama ensued—Pavan misjudged a delivery that bounced twice before striking his stumps. He assumed it would be a dead ball or a no-ball, but the umpire stood firm.

Peiman Memarpouri joined Dush, and together, they built another strong stand of 73 runs. Peiman contributed a well-made 36, providing a solid platform for the middle order.

Meanwhile, Pavan—still in disbelief over his dismissal—refused to take off his pads, seemingly hoping for a second chance!

Dush, in sublime form, played a captain’s knock—smashing 10 boundaries on his way to a brilliant 72. With valuable lower-order contributions and wickets in hand, ACC added 73 runs in the last 10 overs, finishing at 225/9 in 40 overs—a very competitive total given the slow outfield.

Bowling: Strategic Pressure & Key Breakthroughs

ACC’s bowling attack—led by Adam & Sheikh—kept the opposition in check despite their openers settling in.

Sheikh, ever consistent, bowled with pinpoint accuracy, making scoring tough. Raj & Zubair kept things tight, restricting the run flow while searching for wickets.

Then came the breakthrough—Raj dismissed the first opener, ending a 67-run stand. The second opener reached his 50, but a sharp piece of fielding from Pavan & Peiman (keeper) saw him run out just two runs later.

With Pavan & Junior Memarpouri (Ally) working in tandem, ACC tightened their grip on the game, and the wickets kept tumbling.

By the 40th over, Chipperfield Clarendon II were bowled out for 187, securing ACC’s debut victory in the league!
