Match report On an uncharacteristically sunny mid June Sunday the ACC opening duo of the inform Ubaid EBay Khaliq and our allrounder extraordinaire Charlie M opened the batting. The perfect mix of some quick running by Charlie and brilliant stroke play from Ebay laid a solid foundation for the parishioners to forget the vows of the closely fought defeat at Chingford the previous Sunday. There were however some hairy moment with Charlie being dropped by the keeper of a fine edge and eBay close to be being run out but as they say you make your own luck and both batsmen managed to get to past 50 in quick succession. Unfortunately Charlie was the first to depart shortly after the drinks breaks, having been instrumental in a possible season record partnership of 147. Barry in at no. 3 didn’t waste any time in getting off the mark, consequently scoring a quick fire 60 off just 40 balls, having lost eBay along the way to a fine caught and bowled. Sachin in at no 4 helped steer the total past 200 for the ACC for the second consecutive week with the middle order batsmen each doing their part in getting the total to a respectable 280 of the 40 overs.

It was now up to ACC opening bowlers to do the parish proud in front of healthy crowed gathered to enjoy the sunshine and the fine cricket on display. Sheikh the wolf man Ahmed revered for his swing and accuracy supported by Gautam did their best to breakthrough the opposition’s opening duo. However a difficult drop behind the stumps an easy chance missed at mid off kept the opposition’s hopes alive. The wolf man rarely disappoints and on this occasion managed to rid of the dangerous opposition no. 2 with a caught behind with the total of 35 after 7 overs. Charlie having done wonders with bat was brought on bowling down the hill with Dushant supporting from the other end. Charlie struck on his second and third overs sending nos 3 & 4 with one beautifully bowled and the other leg before wicket. Dushant having managed to bowl the other opener in his first over continued after the drinks break with total reaching 66 for 4. Washington’s middle order duo started cautiously but didn’t take long to let loose and tried to make a game of it l, bringing the score to 144 for 4 after 26 overs. The partnership of 88 was finally broken by Ally bowling the skipper on 44 with Barry bowling the other half on 50 with a beautiful delivery. Two additional wickets in quick succession by Ally combined with quality fast paced bowling by Barry at the other soon dashed any hopes of a comeback. With the score now standing at 163 for 8 Sheikhi and Dippen were brought back on, cleaning up the tail and end the innings for a total of 201 bringing on yet another deserved win for our Sunday team. A great team performance with the bat and the ball with some minor improvements needed on the field to make a perfect performance.
