Match report Saturday : 20th April 2024

Opponents : Chingford

First game of the season for the ACC and we were batting first after losing the toss. As expected, at the start of the season, we had a damp and slow wicket to counter the Chingford’s pacers. Our first ball started well with King Maj driving straight down for a single but soon we had 3 of our batters (Dush, Sachin & King Maj-all bowled) back in the ACC hut and I am sure no need to use the new showers 😊

ACC’s best batters-Kuzza & Capt Chris-on the crease with No.4 looking comfortable on the slow and low pitch. Best and highest partnership for ACC (86 runs) and against the run of play, Chris looped an easy catch at short mid-wicket. We kept losing wickets at regular intervals, but Kuzza ensured that the scoreboard and his score too were moving at a decent pace. Our next best partnership came with No 4 & No. 10-Khurram-adding valuable 25 runs but unfortunately Kuzza was stranded at 98 Not out. Last man-Gauti- was run out with 13 balls still left in the innings. All out for 178. A masterly innings by our No. 4 with well-timed 4’s and 6’s, apart from running hard for his 1s & 2’s :)

Gauti & ebay (Ubaid) started the bowling for ACC and within the 3rd over we had one of the Chingford openers back in the pavilion. This was the last hurrah for ACC and post that we all witnessed some brilliant batting by Chingford supported by wayward bowling from the ACC. They chased the total in 25 overs. Early end for a Saturday evening and gave us some time to have more drinks!!!
