Match report Another Friendly game at the home of cricket packed with the normal incidents! We welcomed Friends CC to the home of cricket due to unavailability of Coopers CC. Initially the omens looked good as two lads and two players were at the ground before us at 12.15pm. Unfortunately only 3 more turned up by 1.15pm and a delayed start was occurring. That did leave time for Aldenham village to witness Dickie "The Frame" Doughty painting the pitch on a par with that electronic scoreboard at Lustleigh.

Game started at 1.30pm with 7 Friends and 4 on the way. Surely ACC would make them pay? No!! A top order batting display saw the Parish floundering unbelievably at 23-6 after 6 over. Lee went for 1 trapping the ball in front of middle stump but unhappy with the decision?? Itty batting the situation hit one straight up in the air for 8. Dank stuck around for a while for 9. Next at the crease were Ebay and AJ both batting in aid of Diabetes UK. Their sponsor money was determined by their runs scored, fantastic! However as both failed to trouble the scorers it is rumoured this Charity may now be forced into Administration?

At least next in was Jimmy B?? Unfortunately not, James must have had conversations with Itty on his way to the wicket as he looked for every possible way to get out and did for 2. With 34 overs still remaining the Friends Skip was enquiring about a possible Beer Match?? Have you not seen Barry Letts bat was the retort! Work to be done then and Barry answered his critics with a much needed 109, well batted Skip, Jerry and Mikey batted at the other end for 34 overs for 15 between them #application. When Barry was caught behind Chew came to the wicket and returned to form with his normal 17.

Time for the "Tea of the Year" , well a shortened version as Barry was worried about the light, though the Oppo like some if the older parishoners were not for hurrying.

Jimmy B and Chew opened the bowling however pace wasn't the answer in the pitch as both openers looked comfortable and the score soon raced to 50. Friends CC bowler Mr Irfan showed how to bowl with his dobbers that earned him a 5fer. Chew made the breakthrough thanks to Aldenham's greatest fielder Ubbaid "Jonty" Khalliq superb catch. At 60-1 it had to be time for the Dickster and he didn't disappoint! Unlike the Charity Donating Batsmen, Dickie was also bowling for Diabetes UK and my god he delivered! Trapping the star batsman in front, 2 down. Skip was sniffing the win.

3rd wicket came thanks to that Dickie long hop, caught by Jimmy B at Mid Off and the 4th shortly followed with a fantastic catch by AJ out in the deep. Time to introduce Mikey into the attack and he struck straight away with wicket 40 of the season, clean bowled. 122 for 5! Could we?? Dickie in his last over drifted one up and the In Batsman looked for the 6 by the sightscreen. All we could see was Dank running along the boundary line, surely he wouldn't get there? Unbelievably diving full length he took the catch inches above the ground! The ground erupted.......scenes! Great catch 140-6

It was game on with an 11 year old batting 9 and a 12 year old batting 10. Batsman number 8 then offered a chance in the deep to the Skip, Barry "I would put my mortgage on that one" Letts. Barry dived hands up rather than down and the chance went down. No further chances offered as Mikey's figures took some hammer and with dusk rapidly descending Friends hit the winning runs in the 34th over. In the end a great game #application
