Aldenham Cricket Club Won by 6 wickets

Match report Aldenham Bounce Back & Bash Bushey
ACC v Bushey CC IIIs 22nd April 2018
Season 2018 up and running following defeat in Saturday’s opener at the home of cricket as the parish side shine in the April sun.
A dominant display from Aldenham saw them beat Bushey by 6 wickets with 13 overs to spare.
Taking charge of his first game as Sunday Captain Barry Letts had a team “full of weapons” at his disposal and fired at will as Bushey took cover.
A solid bowling display from the reigning Herts village trophy champs shared the wickets around with 2 a piece for Sheik(dog) who was as solid as ever, James(let’s just get through the over) Bazeley who also took a stunning 1 handed diving catch at gulley, Wardy with 2 caught and bowled banishing his daemons from the day before and Danny Morgan who looked dangerous coming down the hill.
A good partnership in the middle overs got Bushey into a reasonable, yet below par position assisted by dropped catches from stand in keeper Mark (the crab) Needham and Barry Letts, fortunately they were off the bowling of “easy going” former opening bowler Charlie Munroe, who took it well. With the Innings all but wrapped up when No.11 came to the crease Bushey were 127-9 and in trouble. Time Hale thought he would make a game of it and serve up an all you can eat buffet to the tail ender getting carted to all parts of the village, Tim’s last 2 overs going for 36.
The visitors finishing 169 all out on the last ball.

With an army of watching parishoners not sure the result was in the bag just yet, Aldenham began their chase after a superb Sheik(wolf) tea.

Captain Barry sent in 2 of his top artillery to face the tall, pinch hitting No.11, opening bowler who had left Leavers considering his future in the sport.
New Saturday Captain, Chris Munroe was in vengeful spirit as he drove the “big bully” through the covers for 4, first ball of the innings, and his season and never looked back, carting the “nasty man” for 4 fours in the first over. Munroe blasted his way past 50 inside 7 overs whilst his opening partner was anchored on 2* well and truly playing within himself after being put dropped at slip on a King pair on the first weekend of the season. Ebay eventually started playing some shots when Munroe was caught in the deep for 72(39).
Aldenham’s own Sangakkara and Ebay steered the ship slowly but surely towards the finishing line before the latter was stumped, flying down the track at the spinner for 33.
Andy Jackson, playing his first ever game of cricket was up next after being talked through “the basics” for well over an hour by the great and the good of the parish, unfortunately he was, unfairly, bowled an absolute jaffer first ball and it was all over far too quickly.
Shy former all-rounder Charlie Munroe then played catching practice with cover departing for just 6
Skipper Letts, sent in experienced finisher Mikey “the tetanus” Ward to get his side over the line and he did just that 3 not out with Sanga still in on 37.

A big win for the A’s with tougher tests ahead.
