Match report New skipper Itty Haque led his side into the field against Fulmer and immediately put his stamp on things by having Tim Hale come up the hill. Tim found impressive lift from a lively surface and picked up a useful early wicket with Allen “Big Al” Mills snaring the oppositions skipper in the gully. Further wickets followed as the opener chipped one to George Glynn lurking in the covers before Tim removed the next man in first ball with a devilish in-swinging yorker. A Robin Russell run out kept the pressure on as George Glynn and Chris Munroe bowled tidily before Richard Doughty and Usman Butt were tasked with polishing off the Fulmer innings. Itty Haque was very Joe Root in his field placings and wasn’t afraid to try things in order to force a wicket. At one-point Dicky D was bowling with 3 short extra covers to a batsman who seemed determined to poke the ball through that area. The final Fulmer score of 164 seemed below par, especially with ACC being able to call upon Mr. Purple Patch, Chris Munroe.

Simon Letts and Robin Russell opened the batting against a testing opening bowling attack. Robin was unlucky to be caught behind leg-glancing and was quickly joined back in the pavilion by Allen Mills and Steve Seymour who were unlucky to encounter good balls early in their innings. This brought Chris Munroe back to the crease and, after an initial watchful period, continued his good form by dispatching some decent bowling all over the ground. With Simon Letts digging in at the other end, there was a slight recovery before The Chairman, Usman and George were all out in quick succession leaving ACC at a precarious 47-6. Basil Letts joined Chris Munroe and was content to block and nurdle as Chris Munroe continued flaying boundaries to all parts of the ground. He looked well set for another hundred but misjudged a single and was run out for 91. The match was all but won when he was eventually dismissed and skipper Itty Haque joined Barry Letts to knock off the winning runs.
