Match report With Charlie Munroe pulling out due to being “too tired”, Jerry Knight stepped up to lead an Aldenham side containing no less than 3 debutants. Playing a 40 over match, Aldenham batted first and were immediately on the back foot as Simon “The Chairman” Letts was dismissed for a diamond duck as he deflected a ball that was going down the legside back onto his stumps with his back leg. Matt Parkins was unperturbed at the other end and, with good support from Alan Mills, set about rebuilding the Aldenham innings. Matt batted quite beautifully and early predictions of a hundred for the Abbot’s allrounder materialised shortly after the drinks interval. Matt was well supported by the rest of the batting line-up with numerous players chipping in with useful cameos. The most destructive of these was Itty Haque’s 30. Aldenham were eventually bowled out for an imposing 277.

Despite having one impressive batsman, Frogmore never seemed likely to hunt down such a mammoth total. Wickets fell steadily with debutants Usman Butt and George Glynn (from deepest, darkest Peru) both getting their names in the book. Hopefully they enjoyed their matchday experience and will be keen to represent the parish again. There was also a wicket for Mark “da Bomb” Bohm who bowled a series of teasing, loopy leg breaks. If he can learn to control his length he will pick up plenty of wickets if he is supported well by his fielders. Frogmore were finally dismissed well short of the Aldenham total – a good weekend of cricket for ACC with two big wins and some outstanding batting performances.
