Aldenham Cricket Club v Rickmansworth III on Sat 15 Jul 2017 at 1300
Aldenham Cricket Club Won by 2 wickets

Match report ACC vs Rickmansworth 3s – 15/07/17
Bowling first, Aldenham were able to contain the Rickmansworth batting line-up with Tim Hale chipping away at the top order. Despite wickets not falling at a particularly quick rate, there was always a feeling that Aldenham were slightly in the ascendancy and were doing a good job of restricting the flow of runs. Mike Ward replaced Basil Letts from the bottom end and bowled with excellent control. He managed to find a consistent length and was rewarded with 4 wickets, narrowly missing out on a 5-fer. Ably supported by skipper Nic Hale from the top end, Aldenham made steady inroads against a competent and determined Rickmansworth batting line-up before soon-to-be hero Chris Munroe polished off the innings with two wickets in his only over. Rickmansworth’s final total of ~190 represented a decent effort but there was a feeling in the dressing room that this score was well within ACC’s reach.

After tea, Chris Munroe opened the batting with The Chairman. With Simon Letts dismissed LBW for 1, Greg Hill took the attack to the Rickmansworth bowlers with a quick flurry of boundaries before walking past one to be stumped. Chris Munroe, in imperious form, flayed boundaries to all parts of the ground whilst, at the other end, Tanios Watfa was content to get his eye in by working the ball around in a supporting role. Chris continued to dismantle all before him and launched some huge 6s on his way to a brilliant 102. After he was dismissed, Tanios began to open up himself as he launched some impressive maximums of his own. Aldenham looked to be cruising to a comfortable win but then, drama. Tanios was dismissed and was swiftly joined back in the hut by Mark (0), Barry (0) and Tim (0) as ACCs lower order collapsed in dramatic fashion. Fortunately, Aldenham have in Mike “Rahul” Ward a belligerent batsman of enviable temperament and he, with the equally reliable Dan Knight, ensured Aldenham got over the line for yet another league victory. Up the table we go!
