Brentham v Aldenham Cricket Club on Sun 10 Jul 2016 at 1330
Aldenham Cricket Club Won by 4 wickets

Match report Before turning up at possibly the most picturesque ground we have played on this season, brought its own controversies, luckily its who you know rather than what you know and it was those lucky 11 Parishioners that saw 10 grass tennis courts alongside a massive cricket ground in West London. In the middle of that pitch, it seemed the m1 had been delivered so Sunday skip decided to bowl first having looked at his team thinking 10 wickets....naaaaaaaaaaaah probably not happening. It was the young yet experienced pair of Munroe and Hewett to take the new dukes bowling probing lines, the former bowling with intelligence getting a slower ball in the right place...good snare from older brother Chris, then Hewett bowling his own 'slightly over pitched' line and length bringing no joy to his wickets column. Time for a change, change is what we got when Michael 'ill bowl where I like' Ward decided on his own idea of line and length ensuring all fielders were in the game (including Gay lad, fantastic catch in the deep) ending his spell on a hat trick ball....ill let him tell you how that went!!!! Chewy by this point was trying the knuckle ball, the slower ball and just about any ball toiling away up the hill, into the breeze giving little away yet but still no joy with the breakthrough his end so it was time for Basil 'pack the offside, ill bowl just outside off for you skip' Letts to enter the fray. The new pitch up and see what happens Barry did well from the pavilion end snatching a cheeky 2fer (1 victim had had about 4 beers and gone through a pack of 20 before hand but a victim nonetheless). Brentham struggling on 100-6, it was time for some quality to turn the screw...time for Chris 'I want to be more like Wardy' Munroe for his toss it up and see what happends spell which was actually very tidy, building pressure and beating the bat on both sides. 8 overs later and we had another 2 down with 30 runs conceded. By this point, skip munroe was looking round the field looking for who can he give a game and it was that man Ward that got the nod again bowling with what can only be described as a fury tennis ball having taken a bit of a pounding from his first spell). However the experience Mikey has now got ensured the A's stayed on top. Of course Brantham threw the bat towards the end picking up the odd boundary but openers Hewett and Munroe mixed there paces picking up a few rabitts to conclude a getable 197 off 40.3 overs.

Chips + Mayo accompanied all players were entertained during Andy Murrays final but that was short lived after talking clock Gay Lad ensured all players were out on time as he could sense more significant memories would happen on this day. Lee and Dan 'I only bat on Sundays' Knight started the chase facing some challenging bowling managing a solid 52 run partnership until Aldenhams very own pirate impersonator Lee snick to the opposing skipper P Diddy for 22. This brought in wicketkeeper phenomenon Sanghvi to the crease taking advise from the sulk accumulating a further 20 runs until Sanghvi thought his bat had 4 legs, taking it for a walk forgetting a ball coming towards him and was stumped.
Knight playing the most mature innings of his Aldenham carrer was carrying the whole team by this stage reaching his 50 in 'as many balls.....possibly...who knows Barry Letts does what he wants when scoring' explaining how to bat to his new partner Watfa who clearly wasn't listening. 13 runs later his was given his marching orders from Chewett LBW....controversial?????? Worry not as the team was still at 6 an over, 20 overs to go, who do you want at the crease, that's right Robin joined Knight in the middle, playing his newly found octopus like technique but before you know it, he was scoring 3 overs later having 'forgotten the bowler had a quicker ball'. 119-4 11 overs to go and backs against the wall as Branthams attack had momentum aswell as some words for umpires decisions, not appreciated by some. In now was Barry Letts! 9 overs later, it was game over! A quick fire 49 not out 'don't know how many balls...your own fault Barry' was match winning including the biggest 6 of the season but overshadowed by Man of the Match Dan Knight 68 who set the game up for his team mates to bring us home. Big win by 4 wickets to be enjoyed by all...apart from the 8 players that left before a beer could be bought...poor!
Quick mention to Ward Ballerina impression attempting a caught and bowled chance and Dan Knights attempt at a skier were champagne moments in a good game.
