Match report After another big win in the league, the young Parishioners welcomed Old Habs to the Home of cricket looking to continue the bright start the home side had made this season.
Char won the toss and somewhat surprisingly elected to bat. Clucking Chris Munroe jumped at the chance to open with Robin who made an electric start. 20 off the first 2 overs, a run out that ruined Russlers day and an opening bowler getting the yips, it had to go down as one of the most exciting starts to the A’s season. Chris obviously still very excited, pummelled just about every ball out the middle of his bat whilst debutant Freddie Dare was using just about every other part of his bat manoeuvring the slip corden back, forward and sideways….obviously didn’t get the ‘Aldenham first hour’ shout. Although the A’s were scoring heavily, wickets started to tumble. Miss Haria was the main threat mopping up just about everybody claiming 2 Munroes, Haque, Burrows, Shephard and Trail as her pray for the day.
A’s bowled out for 142 in 32 overs.
Not having much room for error, the bowling had to be on the money but so had the fielding and what better way to make your 10 pounds worthwhile than a diving catch at gully (thank god it was a Sunday)as Robin made up for his less than impressive batting performance. Top lines from Chewitt and Levers got through the top of the innings, however with the small target was too easy for the Old Habs to trundle to victory despite a good spell from a much less excited Chris Munroe.
