Match report On another glorious Saturday afternoon at the home of cricket the mighty A's took on 2nd place West Herts 4th's in a top of the table scrap. With the rules changing back the week after to win and losses only skip Nic Hale was forced into winning another toss and bowling first.

With a varied attack of pace and spin the A's opened up with Charl and Baz Letts. Despite some early "interesting" bowling from Mr Letts the oppo lost early wickets thanks to a fine spell from Charl. The highlight being Chrissy's jug ball call which Charl duly obliged to (tasted good though Chrissy). Baz found his line and length and was unlucky not to claim a wicket as Itty made a mess of a simple chance.

As has happened all season the 1st change bowlers of Aldenham kept up the pressure with tight, absorbing spells. Wardy continued his recent wicket taking exploits by chipping in with a few. What came then was two slightly strange spells from Chrissy and Wellsy which kept the runs down by ended wicket less. Baz and Charl came back to finish the innings and despite taking a wicket Baz's claim of 'I can keep them under 100' provided very mistaken as his last over went for 9 meaning the A's we're chasing 104 for victory and promotion.

The opening partnership of the Chairman and the Pirate started confidently until the Pirate snicked behind. This brought the grape loving Dan Knight to the crease unfamiliar with the idea of batting on a Saturday. The two men gave us an exhibition of placement through the slips (what a wagon wheel) and then slowly but surely guided the A's towards victory, the Chairman eventually falling for another well made score. Watfa came out hoping to finish it quickly but was promptly reminded by the pavilion that DK was within sight of 50. DK duly obliged to hit his 50 and claim the winning runs and thus gave Aldenham promotion for the first time in their league history... First of many more I hope!!
