Aldenham Cricket Club 1st XI v Bamville on Sat 25 Jun 2016 at 1400
Aldenham Cricket Club Won by 9 wickets
Match report
BOUNDRIES RAIN DOWN AS PARISH CRUSH BAMVILLE
Aldenham chased down 149 from just 16.5 overs to beat the Storms against familiar foes Bamville on Saturday.
An explosive unbeaten 2nd wicket partnership from , match made in heaven, Sheep and Minty of 102 runs in 45 balls won the match before the rain came.
In a rain interrupted first innings devoid of any spectacular cricket, the tidy home side, restricted the 10-man visitors to a commendable 147 all out.
The highlight in play had to be the battle between Roger "driving through the rain for 2 hours" Fadera and a very nervous, surprisingly gobby courier, who decided the way to counter jumping out the way of the Indian pace man was to give it the big chat between balls. "Yeah, Come on Rog!" after several delays in play for the retrieval of extra protective equipment, in response to the slip's encouragement, one of the more repeatable outbursts.
A delicious tea from contender for 12th man of the season, Danny Morgan. was enjoyed by all before the chase began, the Chairman saw off some of the shine from the openers before being ruffed up and cleaned up for 10. Chris Munroe, already going well was joined at the crease by Co-Op enthusiast Gregg Hill and the carnage began. Aldenham went from 49-1 from 10 overs to 153-1 from 16.5 As the balls flew over the trees all round the ground. Both ended up well passed 50 as was eventually recognised by their sleepy, disorganised and cruel teammates who had neglected to score the innings in any of the available formats and had to rely on a member of the public to keep track.
A good Celebration was had by all except the poor bloke that had to clean under a Lebanese member of the club's table after being "drunk under the table" by the skippers boy, who then proceeded to fall all over Watford high street after "giving it too many Beans!", grazing his leavers in the process.
Such a shame so called league challengers Potten End 2s failed to fulfil the fixture in what has been known in the past as "Bottling it!" in what would have been a top of the table clash.
