Potten End v Aldenham Cricket Club on Sun 13 Sep 2015 at 1300
Aldenham Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets

Match report Aldenham managed to scrape together 11 players for their away fixture at Potten End, a ground which the A’s are yet to be beaten on and indeed have delivered a few crushing performances in the past couple of seasons. Skipper Char, having reached his 50 wicket milestone the weekend before, was nowhere to be seen as the Opposition skipper looked about for someone to flip a coin with. Luckily for him, Aldenham’s prize tosser Jerry Knight was on hand!

Jerry obviously hadn’t read the looks on his team mates faces as he called correctly and decided his mates would bowl without any consideration to the strength of the Opposition nor the precarious mental state of a batsman hell bent on scoring 1000 runs for the season.

Amid some grumbles and possibly a few names, Aldenham got changed and went out to field. Sure enough, after about an hour’s play, the players were trudging off the pitch as Potten End’s 9 men were bowled out for 27, with Sen Bala taking 3-12 and Joe Hensman taking 3-6.

As the Aldenham fellows trudged off (some more angrily than others) contemplating a wasted day thanks to the worst decision since filling the Hindenberg with Hydrogen, a car pulled up across the ground. Out popped two youngsters in whites. ‘Oh,’ their skipper exclaimed. ‘There’s our 10th and 11th men!’.

Out Aldenham went back into the field and Potten End managed to double their score, eventually being finally all out for 66.

Teas were not yet ready to be taken and possibly fearing for Jerry’s safety, Charlie sent the run chasing Watfa out to open with Lee. Watfa started like a train, firing off 5 fours before tea was ready to be taken with Aldenham at 28-0.

A hefty tea was taken in by most of the A’s who knew that a specific earlier decisions meant their day was over at 3:30 so they’d better get their monies worth in food.

Watfa and Lee went back out to bat and the scoring slowed slightly up until the point where Dan Knight showed that woeful decision making runs in the family by giving Tanios out LBW, a decision so questionable it almost made his father’s earlier look reasonable. Even the bowler came to apologise to Tanios who had given up with being angry at the Knight’s and was just plain disappointed.

Meanwhile, with a few runs left to get, Itty managed to get himself out about three times before he left the field in typical fashion before Dan Morgan managed to avoid the pair for the weekend and sealing an 8 wicket win.
