Aldenham Cricket Club Aldenham Cricket Club v Abbots Langley on Sat 19 Sep 2015 at 1300
Aldenham Cricket Club Lost by 6 wickets

Match report A sun drenched Aldenham with a slow drying pitch after all the weeks welcomed the A's and their friends from Abbots Langley. Though they had been reduced to 10 as their skip had opted for a ticket at Stamford Bridge.

Surely on a normal Saturday Char would have opted to bowl first however he had the cloud of Tanios's personal 1000 run target hanging over the village. So it was a bat first decision! That decision was soon to haunt the A's as they were reduced to 18 for 4 as Lee 2, Richard 7, Dan Morgan 0 and the Personal Goal Achiever Tanios 4 were back in the hutch. Good bowling by Nakul and the Unexpected Reza had broken the A's top order.

A crisis situation calls for Kuzza Barot, and he along with Dougie set about putting some much needed runs on the board as Golden Duck Dan Morgan opted for solitude at a distance from his supportive Team Mates. Kuz struck an excellent 61 taking Aldenham defectee Puneet together with Matt G to the trees on numerous occasions! Big shout though to Rugby playing Dougie who weighed in with a well supported 17.

17 is a number that Chewy can't beat and again he was bowled by Maltese International???? Parth Mehta on 17. Ducks for both Dan K & Levers ( Welcome back from the U.S. Tim ) to an ageing Abbots bowler left the A's at 126 for 9. Despite some disciplined batting from the last pair, Char was out caught on the boundary for 12 leaving Jerry 4 not out.

Aldenham 137 all out

An early tea was taken. Big thanks to Levers for pitching up with Teas on his return. Well buttered sir!

Early wickets were required and Chew struck with the score on 11 thanks to a diving Kuzza catch. However that would be the end of the wickets for a while as Abbots Emergency skipper Nick Gurney took a shine to Char's good length deliveries. Several huge sixes, one landing on the roof of a VW estate that had several spectators running to their own vehicles to relocate them.

A brutal 50 from The Skip came to an end with a run out. Though the big hitting didn't stop there as both Dan K and Levers joined the treatment being handed out. With just 20 runs to go Dan M and Kuzza were bought in to the attack with some success which included a first catch of the season for Lee "The Pirate"...........Yes he caught one. The shock of this action was a massive surprise to Lee who even bought a jug to celebrate!

A wicket for Kuzza at the other end thanks to another catch for Dan "He drops nothing" Knight just got the A's buzzing. Unlike Chelsea the A's haven't banned banter and thankfully that was maintained as normal! Needing 6 to win another 6 to the trees won the game deservedly for Abbots.

At least an early finish meant Watford's win at Newcastle could be celebrated by all on the patio. A good game played in a great spirit. Massive thanks to the Abbots Ladies , Francis and Michelle for doing the washing up. Greatly appreciated.
