Match report Stand in skipper Matt Bazeley took charge of both the team and the gloves in the absence of usual skipper Charlie being away on holiday and wicket keeper and birthday boy Itty's back problem at the picturesque North Mymms ground.

Aldenham took to the field as North Mymm's looked to set a total, Bala and Hale opening the bowling but both finding the going tough and failed to make the breakthrough in their first spell. Matt soon turned to son James and hairy tweaker Wardy who rewarded their skipper's faith by making the breakthrough, with youngest Bazeley Josh also picking up a brace as North Mymm's posted 202.

After a wonderful tea from the hosts, Aldenham set out to chase down the 5 an over they required, with Lee and Simon starting positively against the opposition's spin and pace duo. Both eventually fell but had made a decent start. Haque managed to avoid a birthday duck by virtue of the fielder at fine leg tripping over his young son who had joined him out on the field, but soon was out in his usual manner. Matt, who as the day wore on was beginning to walk, as Wardy so eloquently observed, like 'he'd been in American History X' thanks to his 40 overs wicketkeeping and unfortunately couldn't trouble the scorers before heading off for a well deserved sit down.

James and Darpan put together a 49 run partnership with some explosive hitting but the run rate continued to get away from them and couldn't sustain the pressure, both getting out attempting to force the issue and Aldenham were eventually bowled out off the last ball 34 runs short of the target but having had a highly enjoyable game none the less.
