Aldenham Cricket Club Won by 6 wickets

Match report A 7 man Caribbean Mix side turned up fresh faced to take on a (not quite so fresh faced) Aldenham side on a glorius day at the Parish. Confused by the format of the game, the visitors decided to bat first knowing the majority of their side were the other side of Kent and had taken a slight detour. The omnipresent opening pair of pullers Hewett and Munroe rejuvenated from the previous days antics (2 completely different reasons) but yet again, only 1 of them could last 5 overs. Surprisingly it was the 5 time Lusleigh dash winner Munroe that couldn't handle his Sunday morning hangover and was hauled off for the more experience Danny 'I can handle my Tequilla' Morgan who was economical as ever!! Meanwhile amazement struck as the left armed Hewett was continuing to bowl a long...ish spell growing in confidence both on and off the field continued to probe away outside off keeping the runs down well picking up a wicket of the dangerous opening batsman in his 6th over. Suffering from the heat the A's were going through the motions so skipper Munroe chucked the ball to Mikey 'I don't bowl down the hill' Ward and wanted him to make something happen....he duly delivered varying his length on a numerous occasions keeping all his fielders busy but managing to pick him the majority of the top order of the Visitors who were gathering pace with the amount of runs they were producing. However, Richard 'the professor' Doughty was clucking for his opportunity turning his arm at every possibility (mainly throwing the ball in from the boundary after collecting 1 of Wardys long hops) so was oh so loose when he was required. Of course, spinning like a DJ, the silver fox was on the money early and deserved his 2 wickets whilst Rickaz finished the inning with a deserved wicket at the end. Caribbean Mix 198-6.

Most Improved candidate Sachin Sanghvi and non most improved candidate Tanios Watfa opened working the ball around with gaps far and wide with the Mix fielding with 7 struggling to keep the early run rate down however, Tanios 'I can bat anywhere' Watfa had other ideas opening his gate to allow Mr Walters to his first of 2 wickets. The Colonel entered the fray batting alongside the patient Sanghvi but both struggled with the consistent line of the Mix opening pair again being bowled. Of course the A's had their self assigned 'exceptional, mentally strong, all round sexy little genius' Karan barot up their sleeve. If ever we needed a man to stand up to the plate it was today. Did he deliever???? Should he have lasted after a big LBW shout??? who knows but frankly who cares....the little maestro took to the Caarabean Mix bowling like a hungry dog dispatching the ball to all parts (after a turgid 50 may I add) accompanied by his batting partner in crime Danny 'the all rounder batsman' Morgan rotating the strike patiently at the other end. The pair saw the game home comfortably in the end winning the game by 6 wickets to end a successful weekend at the Home of Cricket!
