Match report After a week of disagreement and petty arguments, the committed members embarked on another adventure as Aldenham welcomed back a Ivanhoe side that hadn't played at the hallowed turf for a about 5 years having cemented their place in the Aldenham fixture card previously for 20 odd years. Skipper Hewett (having had an up and down week...mainly down) lost the toss and was inserted....first time this year and decided to negotiate with the Chairman on where he would bat. Lee 'does a good tea' Burrows accompanied Simon 'I think it's a good idea if I open' Letts to the moist A's wicket and produced a 50 run partnership in relatively quick time. Unfortunately, a trademark 'hook' brought an end to the Chairman's innings missing a straight delivery. The less said about Sachin Sanghvis innings the better whilst Itty and Robin had one of their traditional innings respectively, just about reaching double figures, getting their at slightly different amount of balls faced. A Dan Knight run out was very village but a more entertaining knock was produced by Gary Mehta who couldn't get off the mark. A brief blow from Char 'woft his way to 38' Munroe gave the hosts a competitive total of 185 all out. A little mention has to go to the 'Older Knight' as rumour had it, he was batting for his average with 1 off 12 with 2 overs to go!!

To the rest of the game....where do I start? Probably best at the start and the return of Sen 'cant bowl down the hill' Bala who decided to hold up an end whilst the experienced Charlie Munroe added to his Village cricket experience....more of that later. Lets forget all the other players on the field exist at this point and continue with Charlies spell.
Round the wicket, over the wicket, he had the upper Ivanhoe order playing and missing, seaming in and away with a bit of swing (only 1 way) but fortunetly....it was the right way!!
BOOM, wicket 1 (THE DECEPTION) came via an LBW of Evans not having answer to Munroes slower ball...it was plumb Dennis. BOOM wicket 2 (THE EFFORT BALL) an aggrieved Munroe came steaming in but after hitting his crater awkwardly, he fell over only to return to his feet to a number of high 5's as he delivery hit the top of off stump and Parnell P was on his way. The next ball, BOOM wicket 3 (THE PEARLER) a delicious in swinging delivery took Mr Collins middle stump who had previously scored 70 against us and was labelled 'no mug'...cheers Russler!
next ball....hat-trick ball...not seen at the Parish for a number of seasons. A vote was made by the team on what ball should be bowled...'bowl a slower 1', 'ping it in short', 'the away swinger?' In walked Parnell R and the decision was made. Could Munroe be mentally strong?! Up to the wicket he bowls...wrapped on the pads....the most incredible appeal broke out....all eyes on the umpire Dancer (oppo skipper)...the finger is raised...BOOM wicket 4 (THE CONCLUSION). High 5's, hugs, spectators raised on their feet from the pavilion. 'Munroes Magic Moment' could be seen in the paper! Who knows what happened in the rest of the game but frankly, who cares!!!!! 5 wickets for Munroe in the end, but for the record, the fifth wicket was labelled (THE RANK HALF TRACKER). Few wickets for Dan Knight and a half an hour search in and up trees from Hero of the day Munroe and Itty 'I may get a pint out of him if I help Char' Haque to look for the match ball after skipper Chris ' I'll bowl what I like on a Saturday' Hewett was taken to the bushes/trees/next village having lost a few match balls. TO THE BAR!!!!
