Aldenham Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets

Match report First game of tour was a mixed bag full of quality and Aldenham players with Buckfastleigh turning up with only 5 players.
Aldenham decided to field first which wasn't well recieved by any of the team having had an epic train journey down to Newton Abbot and an even longer night in the glorious Lavender House Hotel bar.
Skipper for the day Michael 'dirty pint' Ward opened with Chris 'in and out tourist' Hewett and Dan 'next year I'm on it but don't tell my mum' Knight (only joking Carol) who found their in different line and length but it was the youngster picking up the first wicket. Chewitt (obviously exhausted by the previous nights antics) had to take himself out of the attack which luckily brought Sen 'all nighter' Bala into the attack picking up 2 impressive wickets getting all the fielders jubilant about an early finish.
An erratic spell from Basil 'now Barry' Letts prologed the game unnecassily made skip Ward have to make a change and he looked no further than Char 'I love the train' Munroe who ended the first half of Buckfastleigh's innings and began the Aldenham rejects part. First up it was Michael '1 night out of 4' Glover who firstley came to the crease with left handed gloves on and then snicked his 2nd ball to Nic 'safe hands' Hale....well toured Frostie! Mr Barot eyeing up 47 runs to reach a well deserved 1000 run season looked nervous not be able to deal with pacey cougared Munroe's bowling. The nerves didn't manage to settle seeing a rank long hop from skipper ward sticking it down Mayuren 'now Moreen' Balas throat (on the 2nd attempt) and recieving a rowdy send off from everybody near him. The only other highlight from the rest of the innings was the veteran underused Nic Hale who manage to beat the overused Tim Hale who played an missed at a straight 1 (not for the first time this season).
The responce was emphatic. Sachin '1 day' Sanghvi took to the Buckfastleigh attack with his unique slapping techique to all parts with Moreen Bala rotating the strike every now and then at the other end. With a 6 hitting bet in the back of his mind, it was the slick Sanghvi who surrendered his innings first having only took 1 to the river. In came Char ready to take Sanghvi's money from him carting a 6 off Karan 'stick to batting mate' Barot and then off his replacement who was bowling the Jeremy Snape Moon balls which was celebrated but all (apart from the emptied wallet Sachin. The runs were on the board and it was a case of seeing the game out but unfortunatly Moreen could only risk Tim hales back running himself out ending on a patient 34. In came the itching Nic Hale only needing 3 to win and after some poor banter from himself and the Chairmen and the double ball bouncer he recieved, took him to the river having gone through his sons hands winning the game just before 20 overs was called.
