Oak Hill v Aldenham Cricket Club Aldenham Cricket Club on Sun 18 Aug 2013 at 1400

Match report The day started with some sore heads after a massive night in Watford Town Centre for most of the selected eleven so it was quite a relieve when the A's saw the the home team only had 7 players and the finish of Oak Hills ladies team fall 12 runs short against their fierce looking opponents. After some inappropriate comments and a few stories told, the game finally started at 3pm fielding first in a reduced timed game. A clear headed James Bazeley bowled with purpose and quality at 1 end however unfortunately his bowler partner was anything but chucking down some long hops losing any sort of momentum the youngster had created. Finally a straight ball was bowled from skipper Char and got the crooked switch hitting batsmen taken by an immobile Tim Hale. A good old fashioned sulk was the order of the day from both Knights so it was only fitting that Knight junior was thrown the ball bowling with a lot of away swing troubling Oak Hills lower order. A combination of Knight VERY senior and new named Moreen Bala troubled the hosts middle order managing to trouble the umpires on a frequent basis but getting no luck!!!!!
A host of volunteers for the number 11 slot meant skipper was asking around for when parishioners would like to bat so pace setting Haque and Burrows took to the Oak Hills traditional raw pace attack. Slaquey knowing only 1 way didn't last too long thanks to the swinging old ball getting bowled through the gate. The pirate playing on not long after meant Barot and Hale Jnr had a recovery to get on with and so it could only be an ultimate shock when the latter took far too long to play his defensive shot to a straight ball first up...BOWLED. Thankfully Aldenham's number 5 Tanios '2nd highest scorer this year' Watfa, bounded in to face the hat-rick ball. Having a crippled Matt Bazeley that wasn't ready and skipper Char 'sore head' Munroe not padded up, it only felt necessary for Tanios to play out the rest of the over at least. BOWLED, stumps everywhere and the stroll had started from the now the hangovered, opened gate, miserable Tanios Watfa who had gifted Mr Farad a 3 wicket haul in as many balls. Karan 'I rule the world' Barot was going well at the other end trying to reach the 178 target but couldn't keep hold of a partner after he saw the Colonel being bowled off his injured foot, Aldenham now 10-4 off 8 overs. A ropey looking Char Munroe played for the long haul and after a couple of close looking LBW shouts helped Barot reach his half century in as many balls. A tired looking Oak Hill bowling attack helped Aldenham need 8 an over from 12 overs with 2 well set batsmen at the crease. The game becoming ever closer, tensions started to boil with some outrageous beamers were delivered and some tasty sledging only made the game more intense. Now needing 7 an over off 5 to go, the skipper took after his brother not finishing the job guiding his leading edge to the covers. It was then down to Moreen and Brilliant Barot to play not only for the draw but for their average too.
