Match report Aldenham bounce back with a Boom Boom
Itty Boom Boom Haque stole the show to give Aldenham their first win of the season on Saturday in Aldenham’s first league match this year, away at Old Cholmeleians 2s.
Slaquey boshed 93* off just 39 balls to put the visitors in a commanding position of 315-9 from their 40 overs.
Skipper Chris Munroe (31) and Pichy Pich (35) put on a good start (80-2) in damp early season conditions after makeshift opener Ammo, please can I open, I really feel like opening today, Chakrawarti (11) went 4, 6 out in the second over.
Uncle K Barot (85) held the innings together with a gorgeous innings featuring more cuts than Nicky Clarke, whilst the middle order tried their best to enforce the mandatory Aldenham collapse.
Ubaid Khaliq Click Click and Slick Vik hung around for 14 and 6 respectively. Unlike Dan “snicky-chippy-minton” Knight (4) and Dipen “Spikeless in May?” Sanghvi (0).
Itty “drop me down the order, I cannot defend” Haque came in and blew the opposition away with some unbelievable stroke play to get agonisingly close to his second ACC ton with very brief support from Mikey Ward (2) then Dicky Doughty with a not out.
Despite not being obliged, generous hosts Old Cholmelians provided some lovely homemade cakes and tea at the interval in what had become a glorious sunny day before the parishioners took the field.
There was an enthusiastic buzz in the field as paceman slick Vikram Chudasama charged in for the first ball of the innings, stumps everywhere as the ball cannons into off stump to remove the experienced opener for an extra shiny golden duck. (4-0-23-1) He almost got a second but unfortunately couldn’t cling on to a tough chance off his own bowling on a jug ball! Chin up mate, thanks for the beer.
With their tails up, Aldenham went on the attack and it was a good contest between bat and ball, whilst the OC skipper Tom and opening bowler Eddie were still in. A calamitous run out saw DK and eBay take advantage to remove Eddie, before eBay cleaned up the skipper with a vicious Yorker. (0-19-2)
Ammo took out the middle order with some accurate fast bowling. (4-1-10-3).
The OC tail proved stubborn and made it to drinks before the tight combination of Dicky (4-6-0) Dipen (1-1-0) and Mikey (6.4-3-17-2) finish it off with men round the bat. 85 all out
A strong start to the league campaign saw Aldenham win by an impressive 230 runs.
