Aldenham Cricket Club v Hendon on Sun 03 Sep 2017 at 1330
Aldenham Cricket Club Won by 6 wickets

Match report With the promise of rain to come at around 4pm, the atmosphere was subdued as the Aldenham heroes went about the jobs before the game, awaiting the arrival of a sure fire talented opposition hungry for success...

...however what transpired was something quite different.

Skipper for the day went out for the toss, and came back to the pavilion stating that it was to be a 35 over game, but one bowler could bowl 10 overs and the others 7. The oppo skipper also stated that there would be a few youngsters playing, and they were more of a batting side...

And so Hendon were to bat first, with Char and Sheikh to open the bowling. A series of archaic swishes in the first over against Char bore not much fruit for the aggressive shaven headed Wahab, but he saw out the over. His opening partner and skipper lasted only one ball to Sheikh, chopping on. Number 3 faced up to Char and to be kind he did not have a clue what was coming down at him. Char even managed to talk him in to moving out of the way of his stumps as he aborted his run up in fits of giggles as the bat was taking a foot outside off guard. Next ball the timbers went.

By now it was obvious that this was not going to be much of a contest, Char and Sheikh removed after 2 overs each, and Jimmy B and Wardy came on, only to create similar havoc taking 2 wickets each. Dan Knight and Millsy then came on, Dan taking a wicket with a straight half tracker which the batsman in the grey Umbro shirt managed to swing over the top of, and subsequently was bowled. No.7 Mr Bunty managed to swing a few over and beyond the ropes in an agricultural innings, but further wickets from Matt B sewed up the innings, and an excellent two over spell of cunning away swing from Jerry should have brought him rewards, but for Mr Ward running away from a regulation nick at second slip.

Hendon 62 all out, Ward 2-1-4-3, J Bazeley 2-1-2-2

After a fantastic Matt Bazeley tea complete with green beans from the Brigadier's personal allotment, Simon and Lee faced up to the Hendon openers. They were both quick and swung the ball, and quickly ACC had been reduced to 20-4 as both openers, Jerry and Wardy were back in the hutch.

However, Char and Millsy saw away the openers and set about the first changes bowlers, and ultimately the result was never in doubt with such a small total to chase. Game over by 4pm, before the rain!

63 for 4, Char 24*, ACC win by 6 wickets
