A heroic knock from batting enthusiast Michael Ward saved Aldenham’s blushes after the visitors found themselves 7-4.

Traffic and general tardiness left the Parish side with 6 players at the start of play, Mikey “the Wall” Ward was a keen volunteer to fill the void at the top of the order, and what a void it became. The 4 other batsman in the top 5 were dismissed without troubling the scorers giving the regional division C West champions a mountain to climb to avoid another league defeat.

Cameos from Ammo Chakrawarti, Capt Chris Munroe and Barry Letts supported the faultless innings from ACC’s new found talisman as the parishioners clawed their way back to 191 all out from 35 of the possible 50 overs.

After a cracking tea and a pep talk from the stand in skipper Aldenham went out pumped up and ready prove their worth in Division 10 A. Ammo and Leavers ripped through the top order with some cracking bowling on the slowing wicket, with a fine run out from Ebay and Josh Bazeley the home side looked in trouble.

After some consolidation from the middle order trying to see off the openers, it took a worldy run out from skipper Munroe to break the deadlock from Mid- Off.

The sight of Barry Letts on at first change broke the spirit of the Ickleford IIIs line up and the game was almost done when the teacher rolled over a 13year old batsman 1st ball.

Barot wrapped up the innings with some unplayable loopy chucks, after making amends with God for not walking on 0 last week by getting a duck.
A fantastic comeback and gets us going in the league this season.
