After the cracking result from Saturday's game.Aldenham were feeling pretty jolly and putting one over the replacement opposition after Ballinger pulled out. It seemed the oppo had a weak batting line up but a strong bowling attack whereas we were completely the opposite.Sadly there were one too many disappointments facing TMP,the first being the loss of the toss and we were put in.

It was decided by all (I'm not taking the blame) that Lee and Robin should open up. Grace and serenity were not used verbally at anytime describing our opening pair but it was The Pirate's Birthday so it was my present to him. The innings started and although Robin was connecting,Lee was having an absolute stinker at the other end. At one point it felt like one wanted to leave early whereas the other wanted to stay but not do any running around!! And so it was Lee the first to fall. In came our new edition to the club,Sumair Rana who normally plays 1st division cricket in the Essex League,and so should be wiping the floor with the bowlers,unfortunately he decided to give the outfielder some catching practice and on the 3rd attempt duly walked back to the pavilion bat in arm. Next to the crease Mr G Hill who decided as it was so cold he'd wear his beany hat. In games gone by Hilly has started each innings with a 6. Sadly this time going for an almighty swoosh, skied it and was caught (duck cup off and running). Next to the crease an expectant Watfa who'd missed out on a 50 the day before, sadly he wasn't expecting what then came at him and was out far too early.Dan Wells and Robin steadied the ship before Robin succumbed and was given out Lbw, 20 from 78 balls! Next up Mr Sanghi who came late to the game from work, he was well up for it especially as he had hit a tonne from staples cnr to junction 5 cos he needed to be there. Yes OK Sach,the ball stayed low,another unhappy batsman returns to the hutch. This is getting too long. Needless to say,apart from Itty who hit 13 and Wells 19no the support came from nowhere else and thus we were skittled out for a very low 95.

Teas provided by the Russler. Jam Sandwiches were provided,but not many (I didn't see them) and then it was our turn to field. This was to be interesting. Rana and Morgan to open. Sumair came down the hill ,a bit wayward with his line but managed to snaffle a couple of wickets, Morgan coming up the hill and dazzling the batsmen with sheer pace! But also managed a couple from his 12 over spell!!! The drop catch from Morgan is in the book but as such a bit unfair considering when the ball landed he was a foot from mid off Mr Sanghi who was not up for it in any way.... Dickie was my 1st change but then who?? Id been to winter nets and I know who can bowl,how bout Wells, no,bad back, Hilly to cancel out his golden,no,a side strain, Robin? Dougie? Sachin?.....in the end it was man of the moment,the ever happy T.Watfa who was volunteered. And so it was. A wicket from Dickie and a final one from Tan and a runout from earlier N Harrow got over the line. The oppo were a good bunch and there was no controversy. Well I say no controversy...

When Dickie went to bat I thought he looked very snazzy in his new cricket kit,helmet included.
"He's wearing my kit "Watfa whined "he's only gone in the changing room and got my bag mixed up with the club kit...the...."
