Aldenham Cricket Club v Tennyson CC on Sat 13 Aug 2016 at 1300
Aldenham Cricket Club Won by 4 wickets

Match report Following a pull out from league opponents Boxmoor, the A's broadened their search for worthy opponents. Today the welcomed Tennyson's, a division one side in the Essex league.

Nic won the toss and took the safe option of electing to field.

Chewett bowled from the top end and claimed three early wickets, all clean bowled while Levers toiled at the bottom end and received reward for his spell.

Amit bowled first change and he too found a three fer knocking, his first a fine catch from Baz Letts running over his shoulder.

The A's made regular breakthroughs and ensured the visiting side didn't build partnerships as all bowlers kept tight lines and fielding standards were maintained, with Lever's managing to come away with a couple of wickets by returning for a second spell at the end.

Tennyson's were bowled out for 159.

What followed was Frosty's first effort at a tea. Many parishionners were surprised at the quality of it as it came with Frosty's claim to have completed it in just 53 minutes. Chris and Tracy were not impressed by the state Frosty's 'speed spreading' had left their kitchen in.

Chris was later left even less impressed as he backed up a straight drive from Basil, so straight it hit the stumps via a touch from the bowler. Lever's was too busy taking evasive action, however luckily the Skipper at square leg Umpire stood with his finger raised, eventually sending Chrissy on his way.

Frosty was next in and predictably lasted less time than his quickest ever sandwich production, which brought Watfa to the crease. Following a nervy start Basil and Watfa batted patiently, both electing to proceed toward the total cautiously and put on 76 together before Basil threw away his start by slapping a drive at cover.

Matt Bazeley was then brought out to the crease and was somewhat fortunate to be in for longer than Frosty as Umpire Chewett's trigger finger was severely tested early on. Matt soon settled in like he'd never been away and shortly after Watfa passed his half century the partnership off 47 was broken as he rocked back to pull a delivery which kept devilishly low.

Dan Knight joined the party but Matt couldn't see the game home, as with 4 required he tried to end the game in a single blow, perishing to a catch on the boundary.

This brought Amit to the crease, looking to return to form following last weeks duck but he could only bag a pair. Hopefully no one will take joy in telling the opposition when he next comes out to bat facing the unwanted hat trick.

Levers came in but didn't face a ball as Dan Knight struck the ball through the covers to take Aldenham over the line.
