Aldenham Cricket Club v Hadley Wood Green on Sat 23 May 2015 at 1400
Aldenham Cricket Club Won by 187 runs

Match report Aldenham arrived at the Parish to face old foes Hadley Wood Green amidst some persistant drizzle.

Skipper Nic won the toss and elected to bat, sending out Lee the Pirate and James Bazeley to get the innings underway. James played round a straight one early which brought in Watfa at first drop whilst the Rustler was sent off to go purchase more milk to supplement his jam sandwich tea, though perhaps he should have been sent off to buy some alternative, slightly less sweet fillings for his bread too.

Lee and Tan set about taking apart the limited Hadleywood attack, both easing past 50 without much trouble. At one point Umpire Hewett, observing the lackadaisical method which HWG seemed to be applying to returning the ball to their bowler, remarked 'Mr Watfa, I bet you my car that you won't get out caught today,' A giggle was shared but sure enough Watfa on 71 then pumped a straight drive back at the bowler who took a great catch down low to his left. Unsurprisingly, Tan wasn't particularly bothered about getting out for once as he had indeed just won himself a new car.

Robin in next and perhaps his mind wandered towards his sticky filled sandwich treat at tea was soon gone having scored 11. Skipper Nic then joined the Pirate who had moved on to 89 before panicking as he grew closer to his first ton for 11 years and managed to play all around that troublesome straight one.

Basil then joined the party, smiting a few lusty blows before shamelessly attempting to pinch the strike, resulting in both himself and the Horse at the non strikers end, arguing about who was out. Nic pulled rank and decided to declare and walk off with the score at 243.

Tea was had, many jam related comments were made. Following on from a professional chef's tea the preceding week was always going to be tough for Robin. He didn't nail it and was rescued by his shining Knight who'd anticipated the issues and brought along cake.

A now carless Chewett opened the bowling from up the hill and was soon rewarded by a wicket, as was Amit who followed coming down. Both finished with a 3fa as well as 2 for Dan Knight and the last wicket for Josh Bazeley as the ten men of Hadley Wood Green were bowled out for 56. Stand in Keeper Jerry took two very good catches with the gauntlets as Aldenham ran out winners by 187 runs as both teams retired early to the bar.
