Aldenham Cricket Club v Finchley II on Sun 20 Jul 2014 at 1330
Aldenham Cricket Club Lost by 32 runs

Match report A Shambolic batting performance brought an end to the Sundays unbeaten ru after a decent bowling display and a ‘improving fielding’ show.
The usual Munroe Hewett combination opened the bowling on a fresh track toiling away without much joy. Chris ‘I’ll have 3 overs to warm up’ Hewett, was generously varying his length (obviously getting what he could out of the flat deck) all for no joy. Skipper Char ‘should stick to fielding’ Munroe, was again varying his line warming Keeper Itty Haque’s gloves flying all over the place....the ball was clearly swinging too much :/ Tim Hale was introduced, galloping up the hill, hunting his pray (quite literally after the amount of times he was searching the fields) as the Finchley openers looked to be settled. Finally, the underrated straight delivery was bowled by Munroe as the first wicket fell for 34. Finding some confidence Aldenham turned the screw with some decent bowling from Hale and now Hewett only to be let down by drops from Haque, Hewett........?......... Still only 1 down, Finchley II looked set for a big total. The ball was thrown to hit man Mikey Ward from ‘The Ward End’ as he got straight down to business giving the ball a real rip consistently 5 balls an over....but there’s always 1 ay Wardy....the groans of ‘OH NO!’ as the ball bounced half way down and it quickly disappeared past the boundary (almost as quickly as the time it took to withdraw him from the attack).
By this time the pony looked threatening picking up both batsmen who made a big contribution to bring the A’s back into the game. Who better that The Professor Richard ‘I will head anything’ Doughty to finish off the innings and yet again he delivered the goods in emphatic style showing the youngsters how it’s done picking up a well deserved 3fer. Rabbit catcher Barry Letts managed a successful 4 over spell somehow convincing his team mates and more importantly the umpire that 1 of his deliveries was going onto hit the stumps....the full and straight surprise delivery always works mate!
A Subway special from uncommitted Sachin Sanghvi provided the local Parish with Sarnies, Mars Bars and Lemon Squash to fill his alleged team mates as he was sipping Mojitos (other Cocktails are available) watching the demise of English Cricket at Lords. Same again next week Sach?
A below par batting display wasn’t good enough to go for the win with some indifferent shot selection only for Lee Burrows’ 30 and a ill Tanios Watfa’s warrior type innings gave messers Hale, Doughty and Ward to face the last 10 overs. The draw was on. Tim, who took the more aggressive route smashed his way to 20 which anchorman Doughty took a nasty blow to the head and was clearly protecting his average having retired hurt on 2 not out. Worry was not on anybodys mind when all eyes beamed on Michael ‘The Wall’ Ward waltzed his way to the square. 4 Overs without any worry for number 9 and Jack only for Left armer....?..... bowled a slider for the Zoro impersinater Ward to be wrapped on the pads in front of all 3 leaving Jerry ‘soapy fingers’ Knight very little choice another than giving him his marching orders.
