Aldenham Cricket Club won the Kreeda International Hertfordshire Village Trophy for the first time in their history on Sunday 21st August. The format for the competition is standard 20 over matches played mid-week, however Sunday saw the culmination of the competition in a 'finals day' at Knebworth Park Cricket Club with 2 semi-finals and final taking place.

Alongside Aldenham the remaining competitors were Frogmore, Breachwood Green and Thorley. The draw for the semi-finals took place at 9.30am for a 10am start, and Herts Saracens League Regional Division C West's Aldenham were drawn with Thorley for the opening fixture on the 2nd pitch, with Frogmore vs Breachwood Green taking place on the main pitch.

Captain of Aldenham Chris Munroe won the toss and elected to put Thorley in to bat on a green top. Opening bowlers Charlie Munroe and Tim Hale, along with first change bowler Amit Chakrawarti, ripped through the top order of Thorley bowling straight on a pitch that was keeping low and skidding through. Wickets continued to tumble with the introduction of spin later in the innings, and Thorley eventually succumbed to 59 all out. Aldenham lost Charlie Munroe early in the reply, however Chris Munroe and Basil Letts saw Aldenham through to the modest target within 8 overs.

Frogmore overcame Breachwood Green in a tense second semi-final which went down to the last over, with Frogmore chasing Breachwood Green's total of 99 all out. And so the final was set with Aldenham meeting Frogmore in a 1.30pm start.

Frogmore won the toss and elected to put Aldenham in to bat after low scoring semi-finals. The Munroe brothers built a solid opening partnership before Charlie hooked a back of a length delivery toward mid-wicket and was spectacularly caught one handed. This brought the beligerent Chris Munroe and Letts together again, and both began to open up as spin was introduced early with sixes hit straight and over deep mid-wicket. Munroe fell for 47 and Letts followed for 45. Some late order hitting alongside these two innings saw Aldenham close on 187-9 from 20 overs.

What followed in the second innings considering the quality of opposition was truly remarkable. Wickets fell at regular intervals with Aldenham once again adopting the policy to bowl straight, and Frogmore were eventually dismissed in the 9th over for 41 all out. Man of the Match Tim Hale claimed 4 victims, with Charlie Munroe and Chakrawarti picking up 3 each.
